Michael David Quattlebaum jr., now better known as Mykki Blanco, is a writer, an activist and a performance artist. Blanco began his career in 2010 as an industrial punk performer under the pseudonym „No Fear“. He followed this up by creating a video art project about an adolescent drag rapper, living for two years as a transexual woman and creating, coincidentally, the sparkling new genre of queer rap. In 2012, the music scene was shaken by his debut EP „Mykki Blanco and the Mutant Angels“, quickly followed by the innovative mixtape „Cosmic Angel“. In 2013, Blanco’s second EP, „Betty Rubble: The Initiation“ was released. After a pause of a few years, his first album, „Mykki“ finally appeared in 2016 (produced by Woodkid and Jeremiah Meece). The album’s label, „DOGFOOD Music Group“ (founded jointly by Blanco and !K7 in 2015), supports underground artists who want to use their music to break conventional cultural boundaries.
