Das britische Post-Punk-Trio aus Hackney wurde 2018 gegründet. Bestehend aus Wafah Dafour (Gesang, Gitarre), Celeste Guinness (Bass) und Mélia Beaudoin (Schlagzeug), veröffentlichten sie 2019 ihr Sinble-Debüt „Air“. Die Band verschmilzt Alt-Pop-Melodien, treibende Post-Punk-Bässe und Cold-Wave-Synthies zu einem einzigartigen, minimalistischen Sound. Ihre düsteren aber verführerischen Songs, auf Englisch und Französisch gesungen, thematisieren aktuelle und meist kontroverse Themen. 

Die Band tourt intensiv, im letzten Jahr als Vorgruppe von Queens of the Stone Age und schließt sich dabei gerne Zeitgenoss*innen wie Yard Act, BODEGA und Nation of Language an. Zudem tritt sie auf Festivalbühnen wie Latitude, Secret Garden Party, Truck Festival und nun auch auf dem Queer Festival auf. Neben den bisher veröffentlichten 2 Vinyl-EPs “creeping speedwells” von 2021 und “diamond horsetail” von 2022 haben deep tan nun eine 7″-Single mit dem Londoner Kultlabel Speedy Wunderground veröffentlicht, produziert von Dan Carey.

This post-punk trio from Hackney (London) first got together in 2018. Its
members Wafah Dafour (vocals, guitar), Celeste Guinness (bass), and Mélia
Beaudoin (drums) released their debut single “Air” in 2019. The band fuses
retro pop melodies, driving post-punk bass, and cold wave synthesizers into a
uniquely minimalist sound. The songs are dark, but seductive, sung in both
English and French, and do not hesitate to handle controversial topics. The
band tours hard, appearing last year for example as a support act for Queens
of the Stone Age, joining the ranks of acts like Yard Act, BODEGA, and Nation of
Language. Plus they still found time to play festivals such as Latitude, Secret
Garden Party, and Truck Festival, not to mention this year’s Queer Festival!
