Flying Monkeys – Bodysuspension Crew

Aufgrund des großen Interesses im letzten Jahr – am 28. Mai 2017 beim 9. Queer Festival Heidelberg.

Bodysuspension, also das Hängen an der eigenen Haut, die mit Haken durchstoßen wird, ist ein Jahrtausende altes Initiationsritual.
Heute ist es in der Bodymodszene weit verbreitet, um Grenzen zu überwinden, seinen Körper zu fordern, die eigene Mitte zu finden. Um einen Einblick in diese Welt zu geben, lädt die Flying Monkeys Suspension Crew Interessierte ein, mitzumachen und zuzuschauen. Die Flying Monkeys sind ein Team aus sechs festen Mitgliedern aus Heidelberg und Karlsruhe. Sie sind die erste Gruppe in der Umgebung, die sich mit diesem Th ema befasst und es auch einer breiteren Öff entlichkeit zugänglich machen möchte. Menschen mit unterschiedlichen soziokulturellen Backgrounds und Beweggründen sollen die Möglichkeit bekommen, sich selbst durch die Suspension zu erfahren.

Zwei Piercer, Nic (Anarchist Tattoo Collective Heidelberg) und Bo (Zum Stecher Ettlingen), kümmern sich um das Setzen der Haken, die Nachsorge und natürlich den hygienischen Aspekt.

FLYING MONKEYS

Body suspension, the art of hanging your body from hooks pierced through your skin, is an initiation ritual that goes back thousands of years. It has become popular in today’s body modification scene as a way of testing your limits, challenging your body and finding out where your center is. At this event, The Flying Monkeys Suspension Crew welcomes us to their world and invites members of the audience to not just watch but to join in too.

The Flying Monkeys has a core team of six members from Heidelberg and Karlsruhe and is the first group in the area who, besides practicing the activity, also wants to make it better known to the public. Their aim is to enable people from all social and cultural backgrounds to learn more about themselves by participating, regardless of motivation.

Two piercers, Nic (from the Anarchist Tattoo Collective Heidelberg) and Bo (from Zum Stecher in Ettlingen), will place the hooks and take care of the volunteers after suspension, and will be in charge of all aspects of hygiene.
